Twitter shows its spirit for the 2010 World Cup

Twitter 2010 World Cup BackgroundTwitter is the first social network to show its support towards the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa by silently adding a South Africa 2010 theme for users to use on their profiles.

The World Cup soccer tournament is literally a day away from kickoff and to celebrate this Twitter quietly added the new special design to its list of themes.

You can enable the theme for you Twitter profile by going to your settings -> design page and choosing the South Africa 2010 picture.

Also if you missed it check out Google’s latest changes that enables you to change your homepage background to whatever you’d like, how does a big SA flag sound? or perhaps a vuvuzela?

Great to see everybody getting in on the World Cup GEES.

Google Adds to World Cup 2010 Fever

In just three days us South Africans will host the biggest sporting events the world has, and this will be the first time that the World Cup will be hosted in a society where Social Media and Internet is part of our daily lives.

Google is known for changing their logo’s for events like this, and they have a competition running where you the Google user have the choice of the Google Doodle for the World Cup, but apart from this Google are even adding some nice unique World Cup results to its search pages.

Upon searching for the phrase “World Cup” users will now be greeted with a result showing the next couple of matches being played as well as all the teams and the groups they play in.

View Soccer City from Google Street View

Google launched Street View for South Africa this morning that allows you to view streets as if you are driving around in them.

Google Street View come just in time for the Fifa World Cup 2010, where visitors can now view certain places in our beautiful country without actually traveling there.

Getting with the spirit of the 2010 Fifa World Cup, Google also added a Street View tour to the Soccer City Stadium in Gauteng. The Street View of Soccer City where the opening and final matches of the World Cup will be played, allows you to walk around inside the stadium and on the pitch. Doesn’t look like there is one for the Cape Town stadium as this was the first thing I checked this morning.

Fee!Faa the ZA News World Cup 2010 Anthem

There has been allot of dissatisfaction about the official World Cup 2010 anthem called Waka Waka by Shakira ft Freshly ground, the local ZA News team has seen this and though they might bring out their own World Cup anthem.

The ZA News World Cup anthem is called Fee!Faa and is sung by all the ZA News puppets, I love the last part where Julius gives his bastard quote. They also give Kulula a punt who got banned from using the words World Cup in their advertisements.

Check out the ZA News Fee!Faa World Cup Anthem.
