WebAfrica Launches Business Uncapped ADSL

WebAfrica Uncapped Business ADSLUncapped ADSL is no new phenomena amongst South African ADSL users, we have been having it for longer than a year already, but one ISP I have been following closely since MWEB and many other local ISP’s released their Uncapped ADSL is WebAfrica.

WebAfrica has always been a pioneer in the local Internet market, but with the introduction of Uncapped Internet they somehow failed to deliver and instead focussed more on building their very own Tier 1 network.

After almost a year, WebAfrica has finally introduced their very own Uncapped ADSL product, Business Uncapped provisioned through the SAT-3 cable system and not Seacom.

“Web Africa Business Uncapped ADSL is intended for those who want the best possible performance from their ADSL line for their business. Furthermore, redundancy is par for the course with SAT3 bandwidth being primary and SEACOM bandwidth for failover.” said Web Africa CEO Matthew Tagg.

Tagg also added that “What also sets our product apart is our transparency, in terms of excessive usage and AUP rules clearly laid out in the online console with a graphical meter.”

WebAfrica’s Business Uncapped product offers clients lower content ratio’s, prioritised bandwidth, 24 hour business support, 10 email addresses and a usage management interface all without the need to sign a contract.

WebAfrica Business Uncapped ADSL is priced starting from R499 for 384kbps data only or R599 for the complete 386Kbps package that includes ADSL line rental. For more details about pricing view the WebAfrica Business Uncapped ADSL page.

I am glad to see WebAfrica is starting to move into the Uncapped ADSL market, but it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for a consumer Uncapped ADSL offering from them.

WebAfrica reduces per GB ADSL pricing

WebAfrica lowers per-GB pricesWebAfrica has finally come to the party by dropping their per-GB ADSL pricing, but is it little to late?

The past couple of months South Africans has seen tremendous reduction in ADSL bandwidth pricing since Afrihost started the per-GB ADSL price war by offering ADSL bandwidth at R29 per GB, a few months after that  MWEB’s followed by introducing ridiculous uncapped pricing in an effort to free the web.

During these price wars WebAfrica made one attempt to reduce their pricing but it still came in at almost double that of the standard that was set by Afrihost. WebAfrica has now finally come to the price war party by dropping their per-GB prices.

WebAfrica has now introduced their Titan DSL Special available to both new and existing WebAfrica customers. With the Titan DSL Specials, you’ll be able to make use of fast, reliable internet and massive amounts of bandwidth at your business or home. The Titan DSL Specials come as monthly accounts with fixed life-time special rates.

The WebAfrica Titan DSL Special comes in 3 packages namely Titan Data 1, Titan Data 2 and Titan Data 3.  For R199 users will get 15GB worth of Data, R299 gives you 25GB of data and for R499 you will get 50GB of data. These new prices undercuts the current industry trend of R29 per GB by giving users data at R13, R12 and R10 per GB respectively. WebAfrica also has Titan Complete packages available for those that need a line included.

I do however need to point out a few things, this is a special meaning that the price can change, although if you sign up your price will be locked in. Then there is also the limit of only 1 concurrent connection and the fact that top-ups will be changes at WebAfrica’s normal rates which is R59 per GB.

Although the per GB price looks appealing you have to take note that you are stuck with a minimum of 15GB of data, so a no go if you are only looking for say 5GB per month.

All I have to say is that I am glad WebAfrica has finally joined the local broadband price wars, and lets hope they will soon introduced a uncapped offering to compete with the likes of MWEB.

WebAfrica’s new pricing a disappointment

WebAfrica last year announced that they are moving over to a tier-1 network that would enable them to provide cheaper prices and have more control over their network with regards to new types of products.

WebAfrica has since switched over to their own tier-1 network at the end of last year and promised new pricing that would compete with the now competitive local ADSL market. WebAfrica has released their new ADSL pricing and left many disappointed with prices almost double that of current ISPs like Afrihost with their R29 per GB ADSL accounts.

Although WebAfrica does provide new services with their ADSL accounts like unlimited free gaming bandwidth for playing on their new Wage gaming network and a soon to be launched steam content server that also allows for unlimited free bandwidth to download content from the steam server, it still does not justify the high prices they still charge for ADSL bandwidth.

Some users called the new WebAfrica pricing a joke and extremely disappointed while others said that they were glad they switched over to Afrihost back when they launched their R29 per GB pricing.

I personally don’t see users making use of the current Afrihost or G-Connect ADSL accounts switching over to WebAfrica any time soon. Bellow is a table of the new pricing from WebAfrica.

Afrihost slashing prices again

By now every body have heard of, or signed up to the limited R29 per GB ADSL offer from Afrihost.

This offer by Afrihost, known for its hosting, has set the wheel rolling to drive broadband prices down in South Africa. Although Afrihost is only offering it as a limited promotion, if you sign up during the promotion you will always be charged R29 per GB for as long as you are a customer.

Now Afrihost has again disrupted the local internet market by slashing their price by another 50% if you top up. If you are a Afrihost customer you can now top up at R14.50 per GB. This is the cheapest per GB price for international bandwidth South Africa has ever seen, it even comes close to what other ISP charge for 1 GB local only bandwidth.

If you haven’t by now signed up to the cheapest ADSL in South Africa, what are you waiting for? Sign up here for cheap international ADSL bandwidth, or if you are looking to host a website why not visit Afrhost site to sign up for one of their great hosting packages.

PS. I dropped my long time ISP WebAfrica and switched over to Afrihost about 2 month ago and haven’t looked back since, saving me a total of 50% on my 5GB cap at home.

R 29 per GB ADSL launched

In a country like South Africa where broadband prices is sky high one player in the ISP market stirred up things recently with their R29 per GB offering.

Afrihost mostly known for their hosting has caused a great stir in the local ADSL market by dropping the price of ADSL bandwidth to an all time low of only R29 per GB. Users are not hesitating laeaving their current ISP to get their hands on this great offer by Afrihost.

I personally cancelled my 5GB account from WebAfrica and purchased one from Afrihost for a mere R149, where WebAfrica was charging me R290 for the same amount of bandwidth. The nice thing about the special from Afrihost is that once you signed up for the R29 per GB price your price will remain the same as long as you are part of Afrihost.

Bandwidth for these accounts are provided via the Internet Solutions network that makes use of the SAT3 undersea fibre cable.

If you are frustrated with the high broadband prices in South Africa, and ISP’s ripping off the consumers please go and support Afrihost and sign up for their R29 per GB ADSL accounts. This is by far the most cheapest broadband price currently in South Africa.
