Twitter Releases Official Tweet Button

So I guess the rumor about Twitter releasing their own Tweet buttons was true, Twitter has just released their very own set of Tweet buttons.

Twitter has teamed up with TweetMeme who’s retweet buttons has been dominating the web lately to offer the all new Tweet buttons for publishers. TweetMeme will also be switching to the new Tweet buttons soon according to a post on the official Twitter blog.

Install official Twitter Tweet Button on your blog

The new Tweet buttons from Twitter will allow your readers to share content with their followers directly from your webpage and even allow them to customize the message. Twitter will also shorten the URL with their very own t.co domain.

Will you be implementing the new Twitter Tweet button on your site?

Twitter To Launch Official Tweet Buttons

For long TweetMeme ruled the world of ReTweet buttons for sites, you know those buttons next to, above or bellow articles that you use to share it with the world. Well that is about to come to an end for TweetMeme because Twitter is set to launch their own Tweet buttons for publishers.

Bellow I have embedded a Tweet button from Twitter, although it seems to embed fine, clicking on it to share the article just redirects you to a not found page.

The functionality is currently only available to certain Twitter account holders, what should happen when you click the Tweet button is that a window will pop up asking you to log into Twitter and then enables you to customise the message to send with the URL.

Rumor has it that the new Tweet buttons should be activated sometime this week. For more information about embedding the official Twitter Tweet buttons on your site see the document bellow.
