Buzzoid the first Google Buzz Android App

With the release of Google Buzz a few weeks ago, there was one question in the back of my mind that kept popping up and that was who was going to develop the first Google Buzz application and for what platform?

I am glad to report that my favourite mobile OS, Google Android, is the first to claim the title of having the first Google Buzz App.

Ironically one would have thought that Google would have been the first company to release an fully fledged Google Buzz application, but I guess they had their hand full with the privacy issues on Buzz.

Buzzoid is the creation of developer Arno Den Hond, the same guys that developed the Support Haiti application. The application is still in its early alpha stages but allows Buzz users to post and comment away on they Android phones, the only downside being you can only manually add buddies at the moment.

Buzzoid currently has two versions available, a free version and a paid for version, only difference being that the paid for version has no advertisements.

Google Buzz WordPress Plugins

With the launch of Google Buzz came new ways of sharing information on the web. Just in the first view days of Google Buzz’s launch it already served millions of Buzz messages. And what better way to get your blog posts out there than to add a Buzz This button to your posts or display your Google Buzz timeline.

Here is three Google Buzz WordPress plugins you can use on your blog.

Disable Google Buzz

Ever since I started using Google Buzz the first thing that annoyed me was the fact that I got all my Google Buzz message via email also, that is when I wrote a article about how to disable mail notifications for Google Buzz messages.

Now a few people have mailed me asking if there is a way to disable Google Buzz completely, good news is you can do it and its real easy.

To disable or turn off you Google Buzz account follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your Gmail account
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. There should be a small link that says “Turn off buzz
  4. Click “Turn off buzz” and your Google Buzz account should be turned off.

Disable Google Buzz mail notifications

Google buzz is Google’s latest attempt to snatch the social networking crowds away from the likes of Twitter and Facebook. Google Buzz is alright, nothing wow about it for me just one thing that really irritates me about it is the fact that it sends mail to your Gmail account for all your Buzz messages.

After some searching I found a way to disable these notifications.

  1. In your Gmail account go to your inbox tab.
  2. Locate and click the Create Filter link next to the Search The Web button.
  3. Enter your Gmail email address in the “To” field
  4. Enter “label:buzz” into the “has the words” field
  5. Click Next Step and ignore the warning message.
  6. Select “Skip the inbox” and “Mark as read”
  7. Apply a label like “Buzz Notifications”
  8. Press “Create Filter” and you should not receive buzz messages as Emails anymore

I did the above on my Gmail account and do not receive any Google Buzz messages as emails anymore. Hope this helps you!

Google Maps 4.0 with Buzz hits Android Market

Word out is that Google just released Google Maps 4.0 to the Android Market, but what makes this version of Google Maps so significant than the others? A simple answer really, Google Buzz support.

Google Maps 4.0 with Google Buzz for Android

I searched the Android Market just now but unfortunately could not find the new Google Maps 4.0 with Google Buzz. After some further investigation I found that you need to run Android 1.6 or higher to be able to use Google Maps 4.0 and Leaf South Africa has not yet released a new ROM with the latest Android software for the HTC Hero.

If you have a rooted Android phone with Android 1.6 or higher go check out the Android Market for Google Maps 4.0 with Google Buzz and let us know how it is.

The net is a buzz with Google Buzz

Google Buzz is Google’s latest stab at having a slice of the Social Networking pie on the Internet. Google just introduced Google Buzz to the world and some of you that makes use of GMail may already have the feature activated.

If you are one of the many unlucky not to have the Google Buzz service active you can read more about it here or check out the video below.
