City disaster management is on high alert following warnings of very cold conditions, snow, rough seas, gale-force winds and heavy rains.
Showers in excess of 50mm is expected to fall across the province today and tomorrow. This rain will be acompanied by gale force winds of up to 85km/h, snow on mountains and waves higher than 7 meters.
People are urged to stay away from areas such as promonade, Cape Point, Atlantic Seaboard, Strand, Gordens Bay and the False Bay coastline.
People living across or near beaches need to be prepared for storm surge impacts.
Looks like we have a hell of a week ahead of us to keep safe people.
It looks like a gray week is lying ahead for us Capetonians with 2 cold fronts on their way. Snowfalls are expected on the western high ground on Tuesday night, persisting on Wednesday. Also very rough seas with a total wave height in excess of 6-7m is expected with rain througout the week. So better get those winter warmers out for this week.
