Toodu: Connecting Your To-Do List With Service Providers

Toodu Connecting your to-do list with service providersA brand new Cape Town startup is aiming to help people get their tasks done quicker by hooking them up with Service Providers in their area that are able to assist.

Toodu is a new service that connects consumers’ to-do list with local relevant service providers that can fulfill their requirements. Gone are the days of flipping through phone books or internet search results to find a business in your area that are willing to help you. With Toodu you simply enter your to-do list online and relevant service providers will then be notified to contact you with all the relevant info you need.

“We realised that while searching the Internet was great for finding lots of information, it wasn’t that good for finding specific products and services that met your individual requirements,” said Hartman, Toodu CEO. “Then, once you found the correct contact details, getting information, prices or quotes and deciding who to deal with was seldom a simple matter. We decided that getting things done shouldn’t be this hard.”

How Toodu work:

  1. Go to Toodu.co.za (its free)
  2. Fill in your Toodu items
  3. Take a break
  4. Start receiving the information, quotes, prices or proposals you need. (Toodu lets you know by email when you have received a response, so you don’t have to keep checking back).
  5. Choose who you want to work with and get in contact with them. Toodu doesn’t share your details with the suppliers so you won’t get any pesky spam.
  6. Tick the item off your to-do list.

Toodu is currently in beta stage and only available in Cape Town and surrounding suburbs but will soon be available in other cities. Businesses wanting to become a Toodu service provider can also sign up.

Snow on Table Mountain and other mountains near Cape Town

Weather has been really chilly the past couple of days here in Cape Town and this morning while driving to work I recorded a mere 5 degrees from the car thermometer.

Local weather forecasters yesterday predicted snow on Table Mountain and when I spotted these pics I just had to share it. The pics clearly shows some snow on Table Mountain, although its not much and you can’t see it from the bottom it sure as hell is there and I can feel it in the temperature.

Hyundai Giant Vuvuzela Sound Test

I am just loving all the World Cup spirit at the moment, all the flags on the cars and in the streets and shop, everybody blowing vuvuzelas and even Google adding Street View inside the stadiums.

Cape Tonians can not help but notice the Giant Vuvuzela that is mounted on the famous bridge to nowhere in Town, and rumour has it that it will be blown each time a goal is scored in the World Cup.

So it seems the rumor was true, and in this video they are doing a sound test of the Giant Vuvuzela.

I am so glad I don’t live or work near that bridge ;)

Google Street View South Africa Live!

South African geeks have been waiting a long time for this, and then when Google was set to launch Street View for South Africa they decided to postpone it a bit. Finally Google Street View for South Africa is live and I must say it is amazing.

Google Street View for South Africa allows you to visit places in our beautiful country as if you were traveling by car, I have been playing around with it a bit this morning and I am hooked.

I first tried to visit the new Cape Town stadium but unfortunately there was no tour of the stadium, but I must admit coverage of Cape Town and its surrounding suburbs are really good.

Cape Town’s Giant Vuvuzela

For those those of you that hasn’t seen it already, or are not near Cape Town, here is a picture of the giant Vuvuzela constructed on the abandoned bridge.

Apparently the Vuvuzela will be blown every time a goal is scored in the Fifa World Cup tournament, if this is true I do not know. There is also a story floating around that it will replace the noon gun for the period of the World Cup. If you know the true story give us a shout in the comments.
