With the large uptake of the Android operating system by manufacturers and users alike, it was bound to happen some time.
The first Android trojan has started running amok on large numbers of phones running the popular Operating System by Google. The trojan called Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a is disguised as a harmless media player application.
Once the trojan has been installed on your Android phone it actually goes about SMSing premium subscription numbers automatically. The trojan was apparently developed by these premium subscribers themselves and could leave a big dent in your pocket when your cellphone account arrives at the end of the month.
Good news is the that it only seems to have affected users from Russia, but just to make sure, there is a way to keep your phone safe from the trojan, if you go to Settings -> Applications just uncheckĀ Allow Unknown Source and you should be safe.

“The trojan was apparently developed by these premium subscribers themselves…”
- Apple could be the premium subscriber
Feeling the pinch I would say…Evident in their move to support Verizon’s roll-out of the iPhone CDMA…
