ADSL ISP Axxess has joined the uncapped price war by introducing the cheapest offering for uncapped ADSL.
Axxess has joined the hordes of ADSL ISP’s in response to MWEB’s uncapped announcement last week by offering uncapped ADSL at the most affordable rate at the moment just undercutting Afrihost with a few rands.
Axxess’ uncapped offering is a Internet Solutions based uncapped account first introduced this week by Afrihost, Axxess is selling 2 types of uncapped ADSL accounts.
- 384Kbps [192Kbps upload] @ R196.00
- 4096kbps [512Kbps upload] @ R496.00
This is currently the cheapest uncapped offering on the market undercutting Afrihost by just R1 on both packages.
I will still be holding on to my 10GB Afrihost capped account for a while as I believe there is still a few ISP’s that needs to respond to these new uncapped ADSL offerings like WebAfrica for example that made a pathetic attempt at price reductions earlier this year.
If you have jumped ship tell us how your experience has been so far with these new uncapped ADSL accounts.
[UPDATE]
Current Axxess clients will need to cancel their account via email before 31st of March and sign up for uncapped account on the 1st of April to avoid being double billed.

I am also going to be waiting, well I am fortunate to try it out for free till the end of April. I’m interested to hear what CyberSamrt does.
Let the price wars begin!
@Phillip lucky, I missed the trial signups as I was away on a business trip, but I’m still very much happy with Afrihost R29 per gb special, not a heavy user. 10GB is more than enough for me a month.
@Cpt Awesome yea one hell of a war happening here, cant wait to see where this will lead to in the end.
I moved to afrihost when they dropped there price to R29.00 per gb and with their 2 for the price of 1 special that they run they are by far the cheepest….who else give you 2 gb for R15. If you use more than 17 gb per month it is a good move to go to their uncapped which is semi shapped
I an an online DJ with an Int radio station so I do use a lot of BW and have moved to their uncapped and so far I am very happy
Agree Micheal, Afrihost is my ISP of choice also. They are really pioneers when it comes to the local ADSL market.
also they are the only isp to have pricing for the soon to be released 8 meg line …cant wait for that one…. read some where that our line speeds will be up to 10 times faster with in the next year…. this I must see…..
Gents, you should have done your research before you signed up! They have some SERIOUS thresholds in their uncapped account which actually make them the WORST option for uncapped atm. Other companies like openweb and Mweb have NO thresholds.
I have been using OpenWeb and they have been absolutely fantastic!
Cpt Awesome I know their AUP used to say 200GB fair usage but they changed that so that it says couple of hundred gigabytes.
But I must agree I dont understand why they call it uncapped when there is fair usage policies. I believe MWEB also has a fair usage policy.
@Gerhard No it is not a “few hundred gigs”. Take a look again. After 60gb you get throttled and every 30gb thereafter. Mweb does have a fair usage policy, but there are no thresholds like with Afrihost. So in my books, Afrihost are the best in the business in the capped game, but in the uncapped market, they would be at the bottom.
Ah okay looks like Afrihost changed it again then, see why its always important to read those AUP’s
I threatened to leave Webafrica writing to them saying they must come to the party like MWEB. They gave me a long sob story about how the quality just wouldn’t be nearly as good as Webafrica. Well I cancelled my account with Webafrica and signed on to MWEB. All I can say is I should have done it sooner – better stability and way better price – Get stuffed Webafrica
