Twitter routes links through new Anti-Phishing service

Posted on March 10, 2010 in Social Networking by Gerhard | No Comments »

Twitter just announced on their official blog that they are launching a new Anti-Phishing service that will monitor all links submitted to twitter.

Twitter is launching the new service to protect users against phishing and other deceitful attacks. By routing all links submitted to twitter, they will now detect, intercept and prevent the spread of bad links across the twitter platform.

Twitter users should not notice this service as it will be working behind the scenes protecting them from all bad links. Looks like twitter also kind of are introducing their own URL shortener for use with this service. Twitter users may see some of their links sent through via DM or email being shortened to a twt.tl link.

You can follow me on Twitter to stay up to date on all the latest tech news.
