Google buzz is Google’s latest attempt to snatch the social networking crowds away from the likes of Twitter and Facebook. Google Buzz is alright, nothing wow about it for me just one thing that really irritates me about it is the fact that it sends mail to your Gmail account for all your Buzz messages.
After some searching I found a way to disable these notifications.
- In your Gmail account go to your inbox tab.
- Locate and click the Create Filter link next to the Search The Web button.
- Enter your Gmail email address in the “To” field
- Enter “label:buzz” into the “has the words” field
- Click Next Step and ignore the warning message.
- Select “Skip the inbox” and “Mark as read”
- Apply a label like “Buzz Notifications”
- Press “Create Filter” and you should not receive buzz messages as Emails anymore
I did the above on my Gmail account and do not receive any Google Buzz messages as emails anymore. Hope this helps you!

Good going, that was starting to get slightly annoying!
@Nick yea really stupid feature, can’t understand why there isn’t an option to turn of the mail notifications.

Thanks, but that’s really not a solution. That’s a neat little hack.
Seriously google, if I use webmail, I don’t want to get notified about buzzes twice. Geee…
Agree Brian, I would prefer a setting where I can turn off the notifications. Till that happens this hack will have to do.
Thank. God.
@lee yea this annoyed me to death.
