Amatomu a South African blog aggregator has been out of Alpha phase for two months now and still it is plagued with errors.
When Amatomu moved into Beta stage two months back you could have seen that the site has been improved with faster loading times, almost real time aggregation of blog posts just to name a few. Lately it has been a whole different story, with constant DB errors when visiting the site and even showing as logged in as ThoughtLeader who I am not.
Amatomu it’s time to step up and either fix your product or just take it of the market. I’m actually a fan of Amatomu as I like the layout of their site and the way they show whats hot currently in the blog sphere and rankings per category, but I’m getting really annoyed by the fact that the site is slow as hell when you try to access some features and aggregations that does not occur almost instantly but rather a few days after you posted your blog entry. Not to mention that I’m sometimes showing as logged in as another user.
A while back Christopher Mills owner of iMod launched a campaign to get bloggers to refrain from using Amatomu, I’m currently feeling the same vibe at the moment, maybe if all the bloggers just boycott Amatomu they will get their act together and start focusing on releasing a product that works. In the mean time if you are a sole user of Amatomu check out Afrigator, they are an example of how to run a aggregation service.

And I thought I was the only thought leader – a default error listing clearly. I have had issues since last night, almost as if the attention has been focussed on the launch of ZA News
I agree. It is annoying. I also don’t like Afrigator because they have the hundred thousand 24.com blogs (letterdash) listed there.
hey, thanks for the post, i’m glad to see i’m not the only one with some amotomu problems.
i feel like i want to be loyal, it’s a great site in concept, and they support guys have always answered my mails quickly and with useful support, but i’m really struggling here.
haven’t been able to get in to see my stats in over a week, and just too many errors.
i’m going to give them a little longer to sort out, but then unfortunately i’m going to have to move on, if they’re still having problems.
i also struggle with the fact that they don’t really communicate with us and tell us what’s up and when we can expect it to be fixed. that would go a long way to making it a little more bearable, i think.
Yea cant get into stats aswell for a while now, I agree would be nice if we could get some clarity on the issues and when they plan to fix it.
I particularly like the oops you broke it chirp – might be funny if it happened very rarely, but not every time you logged in!
Agree, it was funny the first or second time but it is getting irritating and pisses me off now.
Dude, it’s seriously aggravating!
Afrigator definitely tracks better…emailed Joseph from Amatomu about a bug I had and he couldn’t even find my tracking souce code! Um, it’s a badge, and it says Amatomu…idiots!
Anyone know how long this going to go on for, they don’t seem to. The error page is rashing me – sarcastically blaming it on user error, what BS!
I checked it out last night again, still the same errors with some new ones added. It now tells me my blogs’ feeds are not correct, where infact it is.
