Apologies for not writing anything the past week, things is very hectic at work at the moment but on a good note it looks like the summer has finally arrived in Cape Town.

Capetonians can look forward to perfect weather the whole of this week with temperatures reaching a peak of 28°C on Saterday and Monday. Looks like summer has arrived just in time for the school holidays, so why not spend the weekend at the beach.

If your looking to get away for this weekend that is not to far from Cape Town why not head out to Langebaan and have a stay at Laguna Villa at the luxurious Calypso Beach area only 100m from the beach and 500m from Club Mykenos.

Have a wonderfull sunny week.

R 29 per GB ADSL launched

In a country like South Africa where broadband prices is sky high one player in the ISP market stirred up things recently with their R29 per GB offering.

Afrihost mostly known for their hosting has caused a great stir in the local ADSL market by dropping the price of ADSL bandwidth to an all time low of only R29 per GB. Users are not hesitating laeaving their current ISP to get their hands on this great offer by Afrihost.

I personally cancelled my 5GB account from WebAfrica and purchased one from Afrihost for a mere R149, where WebAfrica was charging me R290 for the same amount of bandwidth. The nice thing about the special from Afrihost is that once you signed up for the R29 per GB price your price will remain the same as long as you are part of Afrihost.

Bandwidth for these accounts are provided via the Internet Solutions network that makes use of the SAT3 undersea fibre cable.

If you are frustrated with the high broadband prices in South Africa, and ISP’s ripping off the consumers please go and support Afrihost and sign up for their R29 per GB ADSL accounts. This is by far the most cheapest broadband price currently in South Africa.

New DSTV UEC PVR release delayed

In July some of you may remember that I wrote about the release of the brand new DSTV HD PVR that was due for release this month. Sad news is that we will still have to wait a little bit longer for the release of the new DSTV HD PVR.

Multichoice has revealed that they are still busy testing the new UEC HD PVR but it is in the final stages of testing and would be released to the public very soon, but no date has been given yet.

Multichoice announced the release of the new UEC DSTV HD PVR in July this year, the UEC decoder is set to compete with the current PACE HD PVR. Multichoice also announced that they will be releasing a lower end HD decoder soon that will give users the HD experience without having PVR functionality. The lower end HD decoder will come in at a lower price than the current PVR models, no date has yet been set for the release of the lower end HD decoder.

I personally think this was staged.

My Pigeon Race shirt has arrived

A while back I entered a competition to win a Pigeonrace 2009 T-shirt, and was lucky enough to be one of the winners.

The competition was ran by Springleap which gave away 50 free Pigeonrace 2009 T-shirts to the first 50 people that commented on the shirts design.

Rigeon Race 2009

Pretty cool tee, just sad that we didn’t get it earlier to wear it on the day of the race. Big thanks go out to the guys at Springleap and Winston and his owner for giving us these free tees. If you like the design be sure to check out Springleap’s site for more awsome designs like these.

CapeTownVibe.com

A few month back I decided it’s time to go more global with domain names and started looking for a suitable .com domain name.

I went on search without knowing what I wanted to do with the domain name, but as soon as I discovered the domain CapeTownVibe.com I just knew I had to register it. I registered through WebAfrica my ISP of choice and was lucky enough to discover they are running a special for only R90 for a dot com domain. Registration was quick and painless, five minutes after requesting the registration, the domain was registered and active.

I’m still contemplating what I want to do with the domain, I was thinking something along the lines of a guide to Cape Town with whats happening in and around the city aswell as maybe some accommodation info. What do you guys think?

Hugh Hefner filing for devorce

Hugh Hefner Playboy MogulPlayboy mogul Hugh Hefner is filing for a devorce from his wife of twenty years, Kimberly Conrad.

Hugh Hefner and Kimberly Conrad were married in 1998 but have been estranged for the past 11 years. Hefner claims that he stayed married for the sake of his children that are now both in College.

The devorce came after Hefner decided to sell their Holmby Hills mansion, where Conrad raised the two children. This caused Conrad to file for a $5-million lawsuit agains Hefner.

What is realy interesting is that Hefner is claiming that Conrad cheated on him early in their relationship, while it should be notead that Hefner himself has had a disdain of monogamy.

I guess little people knew that Hefner was infact still married, as the lifestyle portrayed in Girls of the Playboy Mansion showed us otherwise. Shows us that everybody has a skelleton hidden in their closset somewhere that nobody knows of or has forgotten.
